  • It can be done as an up and down or you can finish up in Kells
  • 4.5 km from Cahersiveen
Ryans Daughter Old Schoolhouse

Ryan's Daughter, the Old Schoolhouse

Hollywood’s Blockbuster film Ryan’s Daughter was filmed here. Only the School remains right on a beautiful Coastal Walk.

  • On the Dingle way
  • Great views of the Blasket Island’s
  • On calm days you might see Whales or Dolphins.
Historic Stone Killarney

Lord Revelstoke Stone

The Lord Revelstoke Stone was etched in 1929

  • This is not easy to find, that’s the challenge.
  • In 1929 Lord Revelstoke shot a 16 pointer 24 stone Stag in 1929, he was assisted by local Gamekeeper Dan O’Donoghue.
  • Lord revelstoke was a Director of the Bank of England.
  • Situated on Cromaglan Mountain, parking at Derrycunnehy is best.

Sauce Creek

Park at Brandon Point and take the trail westerly, its a good walk of around 4 km. There is a cliff walk also but you will need to take care, some parts are close to the edge.

  • Old saying about Sauce Creek, “what goes in won’t come out”
  • Once there was a village and settlement at the bottom, where the gravel beach is now.
  • On the other side of the creek you should be able to see and old structure to the west south west. Some think that could have been the first Abbey in Ireland.

Cave at Muckross

Walking of Cycling you can visit the Cave at Muckross. It is not signposted so you will have to find it.

  • You can go in one side and out the other.
  • It is rough surface, care is needed and you will beed a torch from your phone.
  • Sometimes there may be Bats flying around !!!
Bolus head Kerry

Bolus Head

Easiest access from near Saint Finians Bay drive to the until you see parking at the Liberator 63939 Monument. This is a walking trail and a loop walk.

  • Great views of the Skellig Island’s
  • You will pass the US Navy Liberator “63939” Memorial to the men who died for freedom in 1944.  
  • Follow the trail up to the Signal Tower
  • On the rise towards the Tower on the right you might find some 3 foot standing stones. Some say these are the burial grounds of the Fianna, and possible Fionn McCool.
Kinard Sea Stack kerry

Kinard Beach Sea Stack

Beautiful Sea Stack especially in Stormy weather. This is a very quiet off the beaten track beach.

  • Popular with surfers.
  • Not great for swimming
  • Very nice for photography
  • Quiet.
Uragh Standing Stone Circle

Uragh Stone Circle a magical place

Beautiful location, on the road to Gleninchaquin on Kerry side of the Beara Peninsula.

  • 900 BC
  • 15 km from Kenmare
  • On the Beara peninsula
  • In private land there is an honesty box, so you can drop in some euros and visit the Stone Circle.
Coad Copper Mine Kerry

Coad Copper Mines

Bronze Age Copper Mines dating back to 2400 BC.

  • Can be accessed via Kerry Way walking route.
  • You can see the green of the Copper in the Rock
  • Very nice for photography
  • Quiet.
  • Good for Exercise

Beautiful location Valentia Island with views of the Lighthouse.

  • 385 Million Years old
  • Discovered by a student in 1991
  • One of the oldest in the World.
  • Check out the Grotto and Slate Quarry.

In a remote part of the Lakes of Killarney has a new car park with access to the waterfall.

  • Remote Walk with great views af Ross Castle and the Lakes of Killarney.
  • Looking down on the Brown Island where Eagles are nesting
  • Can be accessed by boat from Ross Castle.
Clogher Strand Kerry

Clogher Strand

Beautiful location near Louis Mulcahy Pottery in Dingle.

  • Beautiful views of the Sleeping Giant, one of the Blasket Islands.
  • Unreal place to watch big waves from the CAR PARK
  • There is a nice walk to the right where you can get better views of the Blasket Islands and the Atlantic ocean.
  • No swimming here please strong currents.
