OUR GROUPS Our groups are small in size, the maximum number of participants being usually 16, plus the leaders. A group will typically consist of a mix of couples and singles, travelling on their own or with friends. Increasingly, we see groups of family and friends traveling together, enjoying the chance to share time and special experiences with each other. Most of our clientele is American, with an increasing number of British, Irish and German. Over 50% of participants come through personal recommendation. Our typical age range is 35-70, though we are pleased to cater for families with teenage children who enjoy walking.

OUR WALKS (HIKES) Most reasonably fit people should be able to enjoy our tours. The walking terrain varies from coastal footpaths and sheep trails to forest tracks and quiet back-roads. We cover 5-8 miles per day, generally climbing no more than 600'. On one or two days we may ascend over 1,200'. Your daily itinerary will be described in greater detail in the pre-trip booklet that you will receive after you book. Some of our walks are better described to American visitors as hikes, though the term 'rambles' best characterizes our philosophy. You will meet few other walkers on our chosen routes, and will enjoy exploring many places off the beaten path. Our pace is leisurely, which allows us time to fully appreciate the local flora, fauna, antiquities and culture.

ACCOMMODATION We put a considerable amount of time and effort into researching our accommodations. All our hotels, inns and guesthouses are chosen for their warm welcome, comfort and cuisine. All bedrooms have private bathrooms and generally have tea/coffee making facilities. Our prices are based on guests sharing a twin or double-bedded room. Single rooms tend to be scarce, book early and carry a supplement. All evening meals except one, midweek, are included. On this one evening guests are free to dine at a local restaurant of their own choice.
