Outdoor Adventures in Killarney by the Lake Hotel

Enjoy two night’s Bed and Breakfast and an evening meal in the Castlelough Restaurant and experience exciting Killarney adventures with Outdoors Ireland.


Day 1:
Check-in to your room at the Lake Hotel and prepare for the ultimate Killarney adventure. Unwind in our lakeside outdoor hot tub or avail of the steam room sauna or gym. Alternatively, enjoy a drink in the devil’s punchbowl bar, try our international cuisine in the Castlelough restaurant, or relax in our lounge while enjoying the beautiful views and natural surroundings of the Lake Hotel.


Day 2:
Enjoy a superb buffet breakfast before a short walk from the Lake Hotel to explore the beautiful surroundings and possibly watch the native red deer roam the grounds. A qualified guide from Outdoors Ireland will then collect you for an afternoon kayak trip on the Lakes of Killarney from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Explore the deep, sparkling lakes by kayak or canoe! Beginning at 15th century Ross Castle, paddle across Lough Leane, discovering wooded islands, limestone caves and local history. With an experienced, qualified guide learn the skills to master your boat and keep a look-out for white-tailed sea eagles. You are required to bring your swimming togs or wetsuit, towel and sandals- All other equipment is provided. After your kayak adventure, a four course dinner awaits you in the Castlelough Restaurant.


Day 3:
After breakfast on the day of departure we have organized a morning Rock Climb in the Gap of Dunloe from 10:00am- 1:00pm. Spend an exciting morning discovering the fun and excitement of rock climbing and abseiling in the Gap of Dunloe, just outside Killarney. Climb on warm sandstone cliffs, in the company of a friendly, qualified instructor. Learn climbing techniques, simple rope work and how to use climbing equipment! You are required to bring warm clothes or waterproofs if necessary- all other equipment is provided

Option 1: Boat/Fishing Trip
Stay in the comfort of your luxury accommodation for another night bed & breakfast. A stay at the Lake Hotel is not complete until you experience a fishing/boating trip from the Lake Hotel pier from 10:00am-1:00pm. A very experienced and friendly gilly will collect you for a tour of the Lakes of Killarney from the Lake Hotel Pier. A boat trip will take you to Innisfallen Island to visit Innisfallen Abbey and the ruins of a twelfth century oratory, the meeting of the waters, Dinas Cottage, Old Weir Bridge, and Lord Brandon’s Cottage. The Ghillie is extremely knowledgeable on the best fishing locations on the lake while ensuring breathtaking views and the change of seeing our white tailed sea eagles. You are required to bring warm clothes or waterproofs if necessary- all other equipment is provided

Option 2: Horse Riding through Killarney National Parks
Stay in the comfort of your luxury accommodation for another night bed & breakfast. Don’t miss out on a horse riding adventure during your stay in Killarney. A two hour trek through Killarney National Park departs at 9:30am-11:30 am or for the late risers 2:00pm-4:00pm. The experienced guides at Killarney Riding Stables offer a memorable ride for all levels of riders- a relaxing walk and trot for beginners and a chance for an open gallop for the experienced riders. The trail takes in breathtaking views in the National park as well as a chance to see Ross Castle. You are required to long trousers- all other equipment is provided

Option 3: Lake Hotel Treasure Hunt
Stay in the comfort of your luxury accommodation for another night bed & breakfast. This option gives you a little extra time to enjoy your stay at the Lake Hotel and learn the hotel’s history while participating in an exciting self-guided treasure hunt on the grounds. On completion of the hunt, you will have a chance to win a 2 night break at the Lake Hotel.

Option 4: Lake Hotel Cycling Adventure


Stay in the comfort of your luxury accommodation for another night bed & breakfast. The cycling adventure is available to all levels of cyclists. Guided maps are provided with cycling trails through Muckross Park with the opportunity to explore Muckross Abbey, Muckross House, Farms and gardens, Torc waterfall, Meeting of the Waters and Dinas Cottage. For intermediate cyclists, take a boat to Lord Brandon’s Cottage for a breathtaking cycle through the Gap of Dunloe and stop at Kate Kearney’s Cottage before your return to the Lake Hotel. For the experienced cyclists, we strongly recommend a cycling tour of the World famous Ring of Kerry.

Option 5: Climb Irelands Highest Mountain- Carrauntoohil


Stay in the comfort of your luxury accommodation for another night bed & breakfast. Climb through glaciated corries, past deep mountain lakes and along ice-carved ridges to stand on Carrauntoohil's lofty cloud-strewn summit!


From the top of Ireland's highest peak savour breathtaking views over the Iveragh, Beara and Dingle Peninsulas, as far as Skellig Michael and the Blasket Islands. Discover legends and local history with an experienced, knowledgeable guide.


On a misty day enjoy the excitement of swirling cloud, piercing rays of sunshine and the occasional treat of views revealed through a friendly parting in the clouds. All transport included. You are required to bring warm clothes, water, a packed lunch, and hiking boots.
